My book review for Eighth Grave After Dark was actually what inspired this week’s Five For Friday.

first

First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones

First Grave on the Right is the first book in the Charley Davidson series. This is one of my favorite series. And in all the eight books, I have not had one that wasn’t as good as all the rest.

If you enjoy grim reapers, mysteries, and heroines with sass, you will want to check out this series.

halfway

Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost

Cathrine Crawfield (Cat) is half vampire, and her mission is to kill vampires until she finds her father, who ruined her mother’s life. In the first book she’s out stalking vamps, when she comes across Bones. She ends up training with him to hone her skills, and along the way, the romance kicks in.

I have read six books in the series, and have enjoyed them immensely.

sight

Grave Sight by Charlaine Harris

You may know Harris from the Sookie Stackhouse books (aka True Blood on HBO), but she has a bunch more series. This one (Harper Connelly Mysteries) and Midnight, Texas are my favorites.

Harper can sense the the final location of a dead person. She travels around the country with her step-brother, Tolliver, helping people find closure. And along the way she comes across mysteries. This series has ended now, and it was well worth the read.

one-potion-in-the-grave_3397796

One Potion in the Grave by Heather Blake

This is actually the second book in Magic Potion Mystery series. The first is, A Potion to Die For, which was a good cozy mystery. But I haven’t got around to reading this one yet. Blake has another series,The Wishcraft Mysteries, which I enjoy as well.

Carly, is the owner of a potion shop in Alabama, and she stumbles across mysteries. While selling love potions, her most on demand potion, she solves them. There’s a love interest and quirky characters too.

If you enjoy cozies with a supernatural angle, this series might be for you.

homecoming

Grave Homecoming by Lily Harper Hart

I have not read anything by Hart, but the first book of A Maddie Graves Mystery received good reviews on Amazon.

Although it says mystery, from the reviews, it seems to lean more towards romance.

Maddie returns home for her mother’s funeral after being away for ten years. She comes across a dead body. The local police detective, Nick, comes to her rescue. And their previous feelings for each other rekindle. But of course, Maddie has a secret she is keeping from Nick.
